The WBE school garden and Farmer's Market will be spotlighted on KLRU's program, "Central Texas Gardener" on September 7th. Here is a photo of me being interviewed by Linda on Wednesday. KLRU will be back today to film the Farmer's Market.
Today is the LAST Farmer's Market of this school year! We still have lots of great veggies and almost everything is $1/bunch. Come support our awesome project and you'll have a chance to be on TV! Hope to see you there!
I also want to send a huge thanks to our wonderful volunteers that made these projects possible. Dianna & Johan Gielstra, Chandra Patel, Dianne Koehler, George Holcombe, Sarah Slaughter, Carol Glinski, Fernando Muñoz, Melissa Palma, Emily Christiansen, Thuy Luong-Higgins, Cassi Wortham, Jeaneane McNulty
A huge thanks to Johan Gielstra and Fernando Muñoz for assembling the beautiful new greenhouse at WBE! And, another huge thanks to Chandra Patel for donating money to purchase the greenhouse and the 5th Grade Farmer's Market for donating the remaining amount. We are so happy with our new purchase and look forward to growing lots of fruits and veggies!
It's hard to believe that there are only 3 weeks left of school! We have had another wonderful year in the garden with our Wells Branch Elementary Garden Explorers and Farmer's Market group! Today, we will have our weekly Farmer's Market at WBE. Look for the bright blue market stand. Each item/bunch costs $1 and all items are extremely fresh and organically grown in the courtyard at WBE. Don't forget your reusable bags!
Today's offerings are: swiss chard, kale, lettuce, spinach, edible flowers (calendula and nasturtium), tons of herbs and limited quantities of: beets, carrots, peas and banana peppers. Hope to see you there!
After today's market, we will only have 2 more markets: May 17th and May 24th. Thank you for supporting our awesome program and the gardening students at WBE!
